Globalstar Satellite Communications Equipment
Globalstar has completed their first launch of replacement satellites, with additional launches scheduled for May, August and November. Each launch deploys six new satellites, as Globalstar rebuilds their constellation. What this means for customers …..
SPOT tracking service will continue to operate as it has, because SPOT uses a different part of the existing satellites, so that service (called simplex) has not deteriorated. SPOT is being joined by two new SPOT products over the next few weeks – the SPOT HUG – security and tracking system for pleasure boats, fishing boats, and other valuable mobile assets, such as ATV’s, snowmobiles, etc.
Voice service through your existing Globalstar handset will continue to get better as more satellites are brought on line. GMPCS still recommends utilizing the Optimum Satellite Availability Tool to provide information about the best time to make a successful phone call. We expect Globalstar phone service to be fairly reliable (without using the availability tool) by the Fall and back to fully reliable service early in 2012. If you have any questions about your equipment, new equipment or your service, do not hesitate to contact customer sales and support at +1-954-973-3100 or 1-888-664-6727
