New Year repositioning will impact some land services

Inmarsat’s satellite repositioning programme - to optimise its network and enable the delivery of global broadband services - enters its next phase in early January 2009 and will affect a small number of BGAN, IsatPhone and LandPhone users.

Users will be affected as Inmarsat repositions its Inmarsat-4 F1 and F2 satellites.

Two small geographic areas may experience separate outages while these satellites are moved:

Outage 1: 7 January to 2 February 2009 BGAN users in Ireland, Iceland, and parts of West Africa, Greenland and the UK while the I-4 F2 moves to 25 degrees East.

Outage 2: 6 February to 24 February 2009 BGAN, IsatPhone and LandPhone users in parts of Asia-Pacific during the repositioning of the I-4 F1 to 143.5 degrees East.

Full details can be found in the Support section of the Inmarsat website.
