GMPCS is sponsoring Abby Sunderland on her trek as she circumnavigates the world.

Abby Sunderland was born in Thousand Oaks, California and ever since she was 6 months of age she started sailing. Abby turned sixteen in October 2009 and currently she is on a mission to break a world record to become the youngest person, male or female to sail around the world. 

Abby launched off the southern California coast on January 23, 2010 on her Open 40 sailboat which was specifically designed for single-handed sailing in the Southern Ocean. It has the benefit of both speed and safety necessary to navigate the conditions Abby will experience in the Southern Ocean.
